    Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

    Location:

    US - Big Sandy Plant

    Mondays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    , 40 Hours/Week

    Typical schedule is Monday thru Friday 7am - 3:30pm

    The

    Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

    (E&I Technician) will troubleshoot and repair electrical machinery up to and including 480V, 3-phase devices and wiring. E&I Technicians are also responsible

    to troubleshoot

    and re-set breakers in the

    12,470 volt

    substation and

    69,000 volt

    substation. E&I Technicians will test, replace, and repair malfunctioning equipment, such as transformers, motors, control components, lighting fixtures, and instrumentation using test equipment and PLC interfaces. E&I Technicians will perform preventative maintenance and repairs to manufacturing equipment as needed. E&I Technicians are responsible

    to replace

    conduit and wire using hand tools and power tools. Additionally, E&I Technicians will work autonomously or within a group in a self-directed work team environment. E&I Technicians will at times be

    required

    to work a rotating shift schedule. Overtime will be required.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    (not limited to)

    • Be the equipment expert

    • The E&I Technician is responsible to troubleshoot machinery performance issues

    • This includes power distribution issues, instrumentation (control valves, level devices, flow meters, pressure transmitters, variable frequency drives), motor controls, and plc ladder logic

    • Once the problem is identified, the E&I Technician is responsible to repair or replace the failed component including device parameter set-up, calibration, and / or programming

    • Understanding and editing PLC ladder logic is required. E&I Technicians are responsible to study failures, determine the root cause of failure, and implement a solution to resolve the problem

    • The E&I Technician is responsible to run conduit and wire, install junction boxes, weather shields, cable tray, and use all fabrication equipment including drill press, grinder, conduit bender, hole saws, and other metalworking tools

    • Operate equipment such as fork-lifts and scissor-lifts

    • Organize work including identify, schedule, and plan the work required to optimize a production line

    • This includes utilizing a CMMS system to manage work orders and parts

    • Reference electronic equipment files

    • Coordinate with operators, coaches, storeroom clerks, mechanics, engineers, and outside vendors to perform job duties

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required

    • Associates degree (A.A.), or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is preferred

    • 3-5 years

      Industrial electrician or technical school is required

    • 5-7 years

      of industrial electrician or technical school is preferred
